december 2, 2012—three days before my birthday—you left this world. what a way to celebrate.
my dear mother,
it’s hard to believe that so much time has passed since you left us. it feels like just yesterday, yet the ache of your absence remains as strong as ever. we carry you in our hearts, sharing your stories with your grandchildren and great-grandchildren, ensuring that your love and sacrifices will never fade from our memories.
i still remember all the names: auntie, aunty mary, cherri kumba, mama, radio one battery, raymay. oh mama, you were truly a great and marvelous mother to us all. i find comfort in knowing that you are with master jesus and mother mary, where i hope they embrace you with much love. i’ve missed you dearly over these past twelve years. please send my love to papa, big mama, ohoho, and everyone else who is with you.
